America Needs a National IP Enforcement Strategy
On June 22, the Obama administration released America's first-ever National IP Enforcement Strategy , marking a major step forward in our efforts to combat counterfeiting and piracy. The strategy was unveiled by the Vice President and Ms. Victoria Espinel with the attendance of Attorney General Holder, Secretary Locke, Secretary Napolitano, and Ambassador Kirk. The event speaks volumes about the plan's importance to the American economy, and more importantly, sends a clear message to Congress about the need for this strategy.
Following the release of the Strategy, the Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing on "Oversight of the Office of the Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator" on Wednesday, June 23, 2010. Mark Esper, GIPC's Executive Vice President, testified before the Committee. To read the testimony as submitted to the Committee, please click here.
