GIPC Issues

The GIPC is conducting efforts to strengthen and defend the current system of IP laws and norms in the United States and abroad. We are focused on emphasizing IP’s critical role in the negotiation and passage of new bilateral and multilateral trade agreements, while expanding our network of pro-IP supporters among key audiences.

Our policy initiatives include:

  • Support implementation of the PRO-IP Act
  • Support passage of the U.S. Customs & Border Protection Reauthorization Act
  • Protect patents in the UNFCCC climate negotiations
  • Support the conclusion of ACTA
  • Stop efforts to weaken IP in Brazil
  • Improve India’s Patent Law (3d) to protect incremental innovation
  • Improve the Special 301 process
  • Enhance public awareness of IP in key Southeast Asian countries
